The first post of this month... this season, even.

Good evening, faithful and assumedly lonely readers. (Are there any of you left?) We humbly apologize for failing to provide reading material for months on end.

Admittedly, 'providing reading material' has been rather low priority on the overlong to-do list. The good news is that naps and late-nights are now wide open for leisure activities, and the house has recovered from new baby ballistics and is... uhm... livable (#andtheworldrejoices). Blogging is back in the Top Fifty Ways to Spend My Me-Time... dutifully after folding laundry, washing diapers, picking up cheerios from the carpet, writing my senators, and watching episode after episode of American Pickers on Netflix with the hubs. Naturally.

I also want to get away from using Facebook for all my updating. During AnnaBee's infancy, posting a measly status or picture was all my time allowed. With baby now doing this thing called "sleeping stretches", I have time to extract those adult thoughts rattling in my head (amongst the day's "babababa"s and "dadadada"s) and tap them into a relatively meaningful piece of prose. One can hardly do that in 420 characters. In addition, Facebook doesn't have an archive function, and I am weary of clicking "See Older Posts" on my Facebook profile to try to update AnnaBee's baby calendar once a month. Tired indeed.

In the near future, expect to see the appearance of this blog morph and transform. I'd like to make it more "us", whatever that looks like. Also, we are no longer using our real names. Baby is AnnaBee. I am Me (until I'm not). DH is... to be determined. We were discussing possible nicknames for him earlier this evening. I volunteered that we call him Skittles (an old nickname); but that sounded rather satchelesque*, and he didn't particularly like that.

*Satch-el-esque  | sa-ch-el- ESK | adj. in the style of satchel ownership AKA resembling metrosexualism. Derived from the quote "It's not a purse, it's a satchel. [It's where I keep my Skittles.]"
